- From the Board of EVF
European Veterans Fencing condemns the invasion of Ukraine wholeheartedly. Until further notice, EVF will not support any Veteran Fencing Event in Russia or Belarus and will not welcome any Russian or Belarus Fencers to its events in Europe.
- Kiev Epee Suspended from Circuit Rankings
With the uncertain situation in Ukraine, we have waited as long as we dare before making any decisions about the status of the EVF Circuit Event in Kiev.
Increasingly, Governments have issues travel advisory warnings, withdrawn their nationals and suspended flights to Kiev in the face of the intelligence they are receiving about the Russian Troop build up on the borders.
EVF makes no political comment but in the face of the reality that the majority of Veteran Fencers in Europe cannot travel to this competition we are suspending its status as a Circuit Competition with ranking points. Our colleagues in Kiev may still maintain this as a domestic event as this is their choice.
We will review this status later in the year when we review all Circuit Events and hope that we can re-instate it for next season.
We wish our Ukrainian colleagues well and to stay safe.
